1) INTERACTIVE MONTAGE GAME
This idea was inspired from the text 'Digital Storytelling' by Carolyn Handler Miller.
A montage which slowly morphs into shape, starting off with a complete non-linear structure and completely distorted, the main image begins to form as the user puts the pieces togethr (like a puzzle), the user can maniuplate the image however they want and once they finally finish the piece they suceed the game.
But why would anyone want to do this?
The idea of non-linear narratives and structure really interests me, This is clear in examples of film e.g. Pulp Fiction / Memento / Sliding Doors and should be applied to other media forms.
2) GESTURE FILM
Inspired from Sergei Eisenstein - ' Film controls thinking' - He believed that editing could be used for more than just expounding a scene or moment, through a "linkage" of related scenes. Eisenstein felt the "collision" of shots could be used to manipulate the emotions of the audience and create film metaphors. He developed what he called "methods of montage".
The film i would create would be entirely based on hand gestures and would explore the idea of symbolisism, the film would be short but tell a deep story, the audience would interact with the film trying to work out what is going on. The more times you watch, the more you understand. This reminds me of the guiness hands advert...
If I were to pursue this idea I would have to research symbolism and the history of hand gestures, also sign language and anything involving body langauge.
The text read "This is not a pipe", which seems a contradiction but is actually true. The painting is not a pipe, but rather an image of a pipe...
Without this text, then this image wouldn't be as powerful...
3) TURN YOUR BACK TO THE AUDIENCE
If a storyteller, narrator, band, talker etc. turned their back to the audience and spoke away from them, does this make the piece non-interactive?
Maybe I could create a film / live performance in which the main character / talker / musician performs away from the audience, toying with the idea of linear structure, formality and politeness.
Making a piece non-interactive? Is this possible?
4) INTERACTIVE FLY-OVERS
Inspired from google maps launch of the fly-over effect.
Apply this concept to high defintion, high quality footage from various places e.g. a Safari, I could also apply technqiues explored within accelerometer mouses (see previous blogs also).
5) LYRICAL INTERACTION
Inspired from my DJ / Music Career and music videos.
Controlling an image / story through singing lyrics, for example:
Corenell vs Lisa Marie Experience - 'Keep On Jumping'
Although it is hard to concentrate on nothing but the half-nude girls flautning themselves about the screen, my idea would relate to the lyrics e.g.
"Keep on Jumping" - Image moves / Character Jumps - New lyric - New action - etc - etc
