NEW IDEAS GENERATED FROM WEDNESDAY SESSION

From this session with Rona Innes, I thought a couple of ideas for this project in relation to physical computing:

NEW IDEA 1:

All this research into wires and micro-chips made me think about the advert shown above. We are all familiar with this Honda Cog Advert which shows the complex components of a car interacting with each other in a domino style effect.
MY IDEA is similiar to this put instead showing the complex components of a computer, camera, television or any other multimedia product interacting to form a simliar domino effect to the Cog Advert.
A nice way to end my version of this advert would be to use an Tilt Slider. The final component of the domino style effect would be this tilt slider which when tilted (or fallen over) will trigger something in a program such as Flash to produce a logo or product in the same iconic style to the Honda Car in the Cog Advert.

IDEA 2 - RGB SLIDER - DJ MIXER/PITCH SENSOR

LINK TO FLASH TUTORIAL - CREATE AN RGB SLIDER

Like DJ Mixers, volume controllers and other slider switches, you can control the level of something using a slide switch.
My idea would involve synchronising colours or images on a program such as Flash, with actual changes in the pitch or movement of switches on a turntable/mixer.
This could ehnance the learning of how to mix and people will learn to recognise images and colours in relation to various tempo's and alterations made when mixing.

IDEA 3 - THE AUDIO RECOGNITION SITE - NAVIGATING VIA A MICROPHONE
Rona showed us various ways of controlling flash action scripts using microphone/audio inputs. She showed how movie clips in Flash can be altered or triggered via blowing, talking or making any noise towards a microphone.

Imagine a site where you can control everything by voice recognition, e.g. say "home page" and the site directs you to the home page link.

This is a nice idea but I cant even begin to imagine the complexity of the coding needed to do something on as large a scale as this.

IDEA 4 - WEB CAM/MOTION SENSOR SITE - NAVIGATING VIA MOTION
Like the microphone concept, Rona showed us how to control flash components using a web cam / motion sensors. It would be wonderful to create a site which you navigated through via various hand gestures and body movements, look at the previous blog for useful links that Rona showed us in relation to this concept, also check out this link on the Smart Retina, used to control google earth.

IDEA 5- WEB CAM INTERACTIVE IN RETAIL STORES
So customers walk into a store and want to try a variety of clothes on with a variety of different combinations. This could take forever so I introduce to you my idea of an interactive web cam program in a fitting room.

The user can simply select what clothes they want on each part of their body and see how it looks on themselves without actually trying it on. If they like what they see then they can try their combinations immediately and continue!

Happy Shopping!

NB - This relates to the Nike ID website (see previous blog)
