C-DRAGON / PHOTOSYNTH

http://www.neublack.com/tech/685

"An amazing demonstration of Photosynth given by Blaise Aguera y Arcas, an architect at Microsoft Live Labs and the co-creator of Photosynth. With this technology, images are connected and compiled seamlessly to create experiences with incredible depth and scale. Definitely worth a view."

If you visit this link and watch the video there is a wonderful demostrating explaining the technology behind C-Dragon and Photosynth, I feel this technology is could be enhanced and applied to my concept of an I-Paper. The ways in which the demonstrator navigates the software is exactely the image I have in mind of how my I-Paper could be used and controlled.

-TAKING DATA AND VISUAL IMAGERY OF THE WORLD AND NAVIGATING IN A 3D BUT SIMPLE MANNER

-EVERY IMAGE WILL HAVE A HYPERLINK

Dissertation:

If you're going with what you've researched in your futures project you could look at the impact tech has on society. There's loads of areas to look at like:

- people's attitudes towards technology - how people reacted to the rise of pc's in the 70's compared to what people think of the rise of a.i today.

- online societies - how people communicate on things like facebook, myspace etc, why they feel the need to do this and that thing daniel pryde jarman talked about "pooterism".

- aesthetics of technology within postmodernism, look back over other movements and see how the look of things were influenced by art, politics, industrial stuff etc

- ai machines as carers, there's a lot of stuff going on in japan like adaptive orthopaedic beds and robots in nursing homes. Also a.i things around the house. The pro's and con's of this and the effect they might have in the future.

- immersive digital environments - these can be 3d as well, like flight simulations. The ability of control comes alot into this, esp if the environment is adaptive and self learning.

a lot of the above is linked to control and adaptiveness so a
possible title:

Looking at the rise of artificial intelligence, has changing technology taken away human control and to what effect?

splendid blog btw!

Thanks Kelly, you could also look at Nostalgia in relation to your dissertation, do people still have a longing for the past, has new technologies ruined the possibilites of this through areas such as digital remastering!?

Exciting stuff
